What'd'ya mean 1/2 GAMUR? What exactly does "NEFACH" mean?
If the song has got a melody and lyrics it is COMPLETE.
What does "LITUSH and GIMUR" mean?
My 10 year old Mazda also needs LITUSH and GIMUR 2 turn in2 a McLaren F1.
U talk like a politician on a hectic campaign would.
Much like some projects I get 4 mixing: "The trax sound fine... we just need a bit of ur color on the mix" which turn out 2 b over compressed turds stacked up in rows.
It fits more in the "HELP!" category, but 4 some reason ppl find it hard 2 say: "Look, it's not working, we need U 2 make it work".
4 a song "2 work" it needs 2 project emotions, or better said 2 get the lis10er in2 an emotional state. The song's "story" is told by manipulating groove, harmony, counter parts, sound, timbre, and a zillion other elements.
A gifted performing artist is capable of making a song "work" just by performing the song, unaware of the way he / she is manipulating the elements.
If U can't get the song "2 work", or U can't pin-point a single element U're having problems with on the way 2 perfection - then U need 2 change more than "TIPA" - and U better give credit 2 the ppl who can do it 4 U.
If it's working, U have the "vision" how the song should sound @ the end, U have the skills 2 perform yet U lack the skill 2 get it down 2 "tape" - get a recording engineer.
If it's working, U have the "vision", & U want 2 change it "TIPA", get an advice from a "YOETZ OMANUTI" (yet another title) then perform it urself.
If it's working, U have the "vision" but U can't get the strings 2 play without masking the gtrs & vocals - Get an arranger.
But if (as it turns out in many cases) U have a song, and when U perform it sounds BAD, get all 3 + a producer, or a producer that can perform all the tasks above, or hire ppl who can.
The producer's job is 2 express the melody and lyrics as an "emotional projector" beacon. He identifies the focal point of the song, and creates "the mood" by manipulating all elements - performance, arrangement and sound - 2 tell "the story".
Since all elements r closely related, the producer may b an arranger, or a bass player, a recording engineer or just the guy next door.
But he should b able 2 perform the task.
In this day & age the producer in many cases performs as a "secondary artist". In other cases he may b a good "agent" who knows what ppl 2 hire 2 make the song shine.
Peace,
