Using digital mixers 1 usually gets what 1 pays 4.
Most manufacturers “cut corners” cuz keeping digital streams error free costs…
(Buss resolution, electronics, code lines, etc.)
Because of the limited resolution, there’s a risk of loosing data every time U touch a knob.
Think of digital as a “grid” on which sound is projected. U lose whatever hits in between the grid lines.
Finer, denser grids and better projection COSTS.
1 general thought.
Ppl look at any piece of equipment and check out the CONTROLS. If it’s all there they think:
”hey, just like the REAL deal!” Well, it’s not.
Most CHEAP gear (w/ some exceptions, I admit) just looks like the hi-end ones.
Graphics in computers r cheap, so ppl got the ridiculous idea that their puny blasters can sound like SSL. Well, they can’t.
Maybe we’ll get in2 an in-depth discussion of digital streams on another thread, but here’s a cue:
Cheap gear (in general) relates to hi-end gear like MP3 relates to 24bit @ 96Khz – an it’s not just cuz of the resolution issue. MP3 DELIBERATLY omits data 4 cost and speed.
I thought my car would run like a Lamborghini Diablo cuz it’s got revolving headlights.
Well, it doesn’t.
