FFT filter
leave only some fq's in the middle.

the point being that those systems (megaphone, telephone etc.) have similar filters.

I remember cooledit had a few presets exactly for that,
basicaly just a hard band pass. the result is convincing.
and then something to simulate saliva corossion on the capsule and you're set.
(anteras mic modeler with high "tube" value, yeh any dist or OD)
and don't forget the lovely shreeking resonance and uncontrolable feedback..
hopfully that should still be easy enough to create in a studio..
