Quite the opposite really.
A drum riser will change the drum sound, acting as a resonator with the floor (fixed) or w/o it (floating).
Some like it, some dont.
It takes some trial and error 2 get the resonance 2 work in ur favor so in most cases ppl choose resonant 4 stage (4 mobility) and floating/ dampened in the studio.
4 killing resonance, use un-even structures, different materials, and keep the joints a- symmetric.
Then stuff it with absorbers.
As 4 floating - Ive seen many cool ideas: rubber bricks or tiles, tires, foam, shock absorbers etc.
The coolest idea were rigid buckets screwed 2 a 10mm plywood board.
YMMV,
Peace,
Zooot.
