Hello everybody,
I've been lurking around this forum for a while and haven't posted. Well, only once, maybe a year ago, but I'd like to consider this to be my official first post. So, officially, I bid you all hello.
PS sorry about the English, this is Linux
(I don't know what I did in my last incarnation, but I'm paying for it now ... )
As for the egg cartons, I'd like to make a comment.
You don't see egg cartons in Abbey Road for a good reason - t here are much better things out there.
Also, today, you can for minimal cost do better.
Egg cartons are also flammable.
And they're ugly.
However ...
Egg cartons have an NRC of about 0.4
Their problem is the nonuniformity of their absorption coefficient.
Also their irregularities are of the order of magnitude of 10 cm, so bass sounds (which have a much larger wavelength) barely interact with them. So they're useless as bass diffusors.
With that in mind, if you've got no money and a bunch of egg cartons - yes, try them out.
That's it folks, I'm signing off.
Cheers,
Assaf.
