I like dynamics on pno, if the style is right.

U haven't metioned pno type, room and style - go figure.
I suppose it's an Upright.

The catch is capturing the low end and the attack, & every piano is different.

Here r a few examples:

Mellow:
Beind the soundboard, 1 mic or an a/b pair, spaced @ the bottom or half height.

Attackish:
Player perspective, open lid, a/b or xy pair pointing @ the hammers, ~ 20-45 cm distance.

Natural:
1 mic or an xy pair, 1.5 meters away, pointing down @ the soundboard@ a 45 degree angle.

U'll need a good room 4 that.
