first of all good luck with your album.

here is a short tip- this helps allot.

after you mix the album- dont listen to it for 2 weeks- try to forget the sounds and the music- do everything possible to forget the tone - then after those 2 weeks gone buy then try to go back to it- you will be surprised how things will sound and it might make you go back to the mixes and do some fixes or changes- if it wont then ok but it might give you a new look and listen to the mixes

one thing a mastering engineer does - is not know the mixes until he gets them and thats why his work is different and unbiased

this is a major difference that make the mastering engineer more objective then the guy who is mixing it
