y0!
its all verry simple.
white noise is a random based sound (how random is random?)
it sounds a bit like when your tv is not tuned and all you can see is snow.
real white noise is a sound that has all the frequency spectrum at once
this way ou can check speakers by analizing how they play white noise
and see the frequency responce of the speaker. it is also used to test acoustics, microphones, and best of all, for synthesys (you can make beutifull sounds and patches using white noise)
pink noise is like white noise only its frequency response is logarithmic (like the human ear)
wich means that in pink noise you will hear all the frequencys in an even way
most ambiences in nature resemble to pink noise in their frequency response
pink noise sounds softer than white noise..
as for red noise and brown noise and all other colored noises, i have heard manny versions that sound different for one another (reality's red noise sounds different than turbosynths red noise)
ofcourse you can choose to go deeper
anyhow different kind of noises can
also be used to make interesting sounds
hope this helps
